Hi people, maybe you could help me on that, I'm looking for this recipe or the name of this cookie. It' a question from an English lady:

"When we lived in a French Mennonite community in a village
> called Valdoie outside Belfort, we ate a wonderful cookie! Made with
> hazelnuts, these cookies resembled true English shortbread. I have
> been looking for an authentic recipe as my own attempts are good, but
> not as wonderful as these were. They were often served at
> Christmastime. Thanks for your help! Emily"

M Thérèse Salvat

Thanks for your help!

maybe they were thumb print cookies. I'm not sure of the actual name or the recipe but they are shortbread and rolled in hazelnuts.

Ok cooks, try this one:

Hazelnut (or Walnut) sticks
:

- 4.5 Oz of Hazelnuts, almonds, or walnuts powder
- 4.5 Oz of sugar
- 4.5 Oz of butter
- 2 or 3 eggs yolk
- 8.8 Oz of flour
- 1 set of cinnamon

Make with the dough a bunch of butter shape and let rest in cool temperature one night.
The day after cut in the dough stiks.
Cook at 440 to 470°F (this is a supposition, because or ovens don't use the same temperature system).

Try it out! (then call me over Wink )

Hello cooks!

Well I've found a recipe that could taste good.

Mix all the ingrediends to have a dough:

125 g mashed haselnuts
150 g sugar
200 g flour
1/3 cup oil (sunflower, peanuts) the best for a better taste would be haselnuts oil.
1 egg

Roll the dough to form a "snake" and cut slices of 5mm or 1cm.
And other way is to roll the dough with the roller and cut circles with a form, or a cup.

cook for ~10 minutes in a pre-heated oven at ~180°C

Have a good time!

Hello friends.

We are all brother and sisters, we are all living on the same planet, but we don't speak the same language, and we don't mesure food the same way! hahaha!!!!

Well sometimes it's hard to adjust, but I found a plannel to help:
g. are grams for info.

I let you calculate the differences!!! good luck.

1/2 Cup 1 Cup 1 Tbs 1 Tsp 1/2 Tsp
Water 110 g. 220 g. 13 g. 5 g. 3 g.
Flour 65 g. 130 g. - - -
Sugar 115 g. 230 g. 17 g. 6 g. 3 g.
Oil 100 g. 200 g. 14 g. - -
Salt - - 20 g. 7 g. 4 g.
Milk 115 g. 230 g.

For the temperature °C or °F, on Google you can write "Celcius to Farenheit" and you will find a whole bunch of converter for both ways

- 100 grammes (g. ou gr.) are about 3.5 Once (Oz) (exactly 3.527)
> 200 gr. = 7.05 Oz

- 1 kilogramme (Kg.) is 35.27 Oz

- For the temparature I use to warm up the oven at 180 C°, so 356 F°.
I bake at 240 C° > 464 F°

I think I know this recipe you are talking about Noemie, it looks like the traditionnal Christmas cookies we are use to in my family. When I was in the U.S, my Grand Ma sent me a box with some inside! I have felt like if the Christmas tree, the gifts, and all the celebration of Christmas been in that box fill with cookies! Thanks Grand Ma Like a Star @ heaven
