“Today the university was struck with a tragedy that we consider of monumental proportions”
This is not the first time it happen. Just a few month ago same kind of event occurred in Lancaster, in an Amish area. Remember Colombine...
What about shooting at school? Are the students turning crazy, that they go to shoot their friends and the people who teach them? It seems like it's becoming more often that kids found that their school could be a bloody playground... More an horrible trend than a fashion.
I personally think that it's too easy to get a gun in the U.S.A, and this is part of the why of those events. But that's not it. People without peace just find a way to express themselves to the world. I know that T.V is also partially responsible of this situation by the free violence it provides, and the starification it easily creates all the time. Of course parents should be more responsible in hiding the weapons, including the television.
This could be another topic: Do you think one day the U.S.A going to reinforce the law concerning guns? I think and hope they will do it, it could be better than metal detectors at the doors of the schools.
