Volunteering in Thailand Empty
PostSubject: Volunteering in Thailand   Volunteering in Thailand EmptyMon 26 Feb - 19:46

In a couple of days I'm gonna leave France for Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The purpose for me is to help, on a volunteer basis, in an orphanage called "Baan Phra Porn". This place takes care of an hundred kids from different tribes. My job will be mainly to teach English, and be with the children, especially in this holliday season. In fact, in Thailand the summer break is March; April; May; so will be my stay.

I feel this as a call from the Lord for several reasons. I like to be with children and feel that I have something to give out to them. I will appreciate your support in prayers, and for the orphanage ministry as well.

In this topic you will be able to follow me, I will give some news and up dates, or may ask some advice too. Thanks God for His way on us and the constant cares.

You can visit the "House of Blessing" in the Link topic.

PostSubject: Re: Volunteering in Thailand   Volunteering in Thailand EmptySat 10 Mar - 5:43

I arrived in Bangkok on Monday, where I stayed to rest in my friends' house. I took train Thursday to Chiang Mai (12 hours) and had a safe trip.
I gave my first English class yesterday, I taught how to introduce your own self to each other. Next class will be to study a Christian song. Also I started guitar class.
We are hoping to buy a new guitar with donation to make classes more interesting.
I am adjusting to the time and weather.

Thank you so much for thinking to me. Also to the people here who need your prayers.

God is so good. While we were looking for donation for a new guitar, a man gave us his own, and money to buy a new one. Thanks Him, we have three instruments now!

Trumpet class is difficult to set up because we don't have any trumpet here. But volunteers are welcome. If you feel (or anyone who read this message) to have the opportunity to come here for helping, contact me.

Here needs teachers. Mathematics; science; drums; ... If you have some skills to share and spare time.

Everything is going ok, but the time is going so fast.
Next Sunday we will leave for Rayong to go to the beach. It's gonna be a more than 12 hours trip down to Central Thailand. We will stay all the week long. You could pray that we will have a good trip and a good stay. I hope to be able to download some photos soon!

้่It has been a really long trip. Each way more than 12 hours driving because going slowly (many people in the truck: about 60 kids from 5 to 20 years old, and two other cars: one with the two babies and one with us, then many stops for food and bathroom). We stayed there two more days than expected, from Monday to Monday. It was very fun and everybody now is dark (except I. you know Asian people really prefer to keep a white skin so they don't go to swim before at least five o'clock). Thank you for your prayers. We had a very good time, little bit of storm and a lot of heat. The children enjoyed a lot and are waiting for the next time, even if it is tiring to travel and to swim all the day long.

The time for me to come back is coming very soon! Today the kids went back to school so it's quiet now. Part of the building for the boy is extending of 20 beds, because more children are to come, especially a little one aged 6 month...

I will be in France this June; 2nd. Do you want to make something with the other ex-European IVEP?
Once back I want to make a youth meeting to introduce you to the tribal orphans in Thailand. Also I would like to make a meeting to tell you about the conflicts in Burma and the persecution of the Karen.

Last week, we went with the kids in a place where a new orphanage is building. We helped as much as we can, and the forty of people were very welcome! This place will be a Children House for the Hmong children
more about the Hmong tribes

This house is supposed to open next week and will be called "Baan Song Sawan".
It has been fun and tiring but I think we all did a good job.

PostSubject: Re: Volunteering in Thailand   Volunteering in Thailand EmptyTue 22 May - 4:29

"we" means the staff and I.

"Baan Song Sawan" means "The Shiny Lightning House". We (the orphanage) went back last Saturday to clean up and help to finish the big part of the work. The kids started to arrive and now they are all in the place. For now about 26 children, and more in the future. Remain some work as painting and bringing up the electricity, but they start to live in the house already.

Yesterday we bought some second hand staff. We had to move out everything from the fifth floor to the truck, and then unload. We loaded two trucks, it was tiring and today I'm stiff. It will be my last whole day in Baan Phra Porn for this time because I'm leaving tomorrow evening. It's difficult to imagine that I wont see those kids for a while, but it is God's will. I'm gonna go down to Bangkok for one week. Thank you for thinking to me.
